Explore Savannah cat generations F1 through F6 and learn how generation can influence size, appearance, energy and everyday companionship. Understanding these differences can help your family choose a kitten that better suits your home and lifestyle.
The generation of a Savannah cat describes how many generations separate the kitten from its Serval ancestry. F1 Savannah cats are closest to the Serval and often display the most pronounced wild appearance, size and energy. F2 and F3 Savannah cats continue to show striking spots, athletic ability and intelligent personalities while becoming progressively further removed from their Serval ancestry.
F4, F5 and F6 Savannah cats preserve the breed’s beautiful spotted coats, curiosity and engaging nature, but may be a practical choice for families seeking later-generation companionship. Every kitten is an individual, so generation alone cannot determine personality or adult size. At Sunpaw Savannahs, our kittens are raised at home around loving children, everyday household activity and attentive care to support confident, well-socialized companions.
